It’s good news for everybody, Microsoft is dropping the price on it’s XBOX 360 Elite to $300, and it’s Pro to $250. Coinciding with the recently cheaper Playstation 3 Slim. Microsoft denies that it’s price drop was a reaction to Sony’s move, that it was only coincidental. And with the holidays coming up; HALO 3: OSDT (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and other big games planning to be released, it’s probably true. Whatever the reason is, I doubt many will be complaining.
With Project Natal coming up, which pricing on is still under wraps though undoubtedly going to be expensive, I’m sure this move will also help with making that a bit more affordable as well.
So what can you do with that extra $100? Well you can pre-order Halo 3: OSDT. You could buy a bigger XBOX hard drive for more save games. You could buy some extra controllers to play with your friends. Or you could pay that pesky phone bill before they report you to the credit bureau.
With pricing getting down to half of the original cost, and systems becoming affordable once again, I’m starting to feel that a Playstation 4 or XBOX 3 isn’t far from announcement. Though it may still be a few years, and I think Nintendo will beat them to it on the next gen console seeing as how they aren’t working on same major technology to add to their current Wii.
