Indie Games To Check Out

Posted by Connor on August - 14 - 2010

The indie gaming scene is constantly improving. More and more devs keep coming into the field with easy distribution networks such as Steam available for even the smallest of developers (and even with a section dedicated to indie games). I’m personally a big fan of indie games… They may not be as flashy as big-name games, but they have a careful attention to detail that’s hard to beat, and some of them are incredibly cheap and fun. There’s... Read→

The Next Year in Gaming

Posted by Connor on August - 11 - 2010

Now, I know most websites do a post like this in the beginning of the year, but this post on Reddit made me think about it a bit today. I’ll give you a list here of some of the more notable games coming out in the next year that I’m really looking forward to. It’s shaping up to be a great 365 days. (Note: Some of these might just have a “2011″ release date, but I’ll count them in anyway.) Portal 2 (X360 / PS3 /... Read→

Review: Red Dead Redemption

Posted by Connor on July - 11 - 2010

Red Dead Redemption was a widely-anticipated Rockstar game that hit shelves May 18th this year. Rockstar are the same guys that brought us the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto series, as well as Max Payne, the Midnight Club series, and others. Although it is a spiritual successor to 2004′s Red Dead Revolver, not much relates back to it, other than the western setting. You play as John Marston, an ex-gangster in the early 1900′s who is... Read→

Kane & Lynch 2′s New Trailer Looks Promising

Posted by Connor on June - 7 - 2010

The original Kane & Lynch game, entitled “Dead Men,” came out late 2007 to much critical insult and generally negative reviews, both among popular outlets and individual reviewers. It was praised for its cinematic stylings and fun multiplayer game types, but bashed on a constant basis for outdated gameplay and lack of depth/polish. Many reviewers agreed: It would have been a decent game if it had been worked on a bit longer. It had... Read→

Half-Life 2 for Mac Released

Posted by Connor on May - 26 - 2010

Yesterday, we reported that Half-Life 2 had been confirmed for a Mac arrival. Well, with today’s weekly Wednesday Steam update, we saw that release. I’ve been playing it almost nonstop since it was put up. Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1, and HL2 Episode 2 are all available for download on Mac OS X. It runs smooth as ever, and even has a few other improvements… There is now cloud saving, allowing you to play on a Windows machine, save,... Read→

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Released to Wide Acclaim

Posted by Connor on May - 23 - 2010

Today, Super Mario Galaxy 2 (sequel to the insanely popular 2007 Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii) hit American shelves today, and has since been met with wide critical acclaim, garnering perfect scores nearly across the board. It currently holds a 97/100 on Metacritic. (Metacritic is a website that aggregates reviews for movies, music, TV shows, and, of course, games, and gives an average score based on a quantity of reviews.) This is the highest... Read→

Fable 3 Confirmed for PC

Posted by Connor on May - 21 - 2010

Fable 3, due for release in the fourth quarter of this year, has today been confirmed for a Windows release. This confirmed rumours that have been flying around, but also came as a bit of a shock to me, seeing as Fable 2 has yet to be released for PC. (Huge bummer, loved that game before my 360 died.) The first game in the series, however, did have a PC version. Fable, if you’re not in the know, is a third-person action RPG with a “make... Read→

APB Reveals Awesome Pricing Plan

Posted by Connor on May - 7 - 2010

All Points Bulletin (henceforth APB) is an upcoming MMORPG like no other. Instead of grinding for hours on end and doing quests to level up, you hit the streets GTA-style. It’s a cops-and-robbers kind of game, where you get to choose which side your character is on and duke it out over the ‘net. It looks really interesting, and it’s something that I’ve been excited for for quite a bit now. The one thing I’ve been wondering... Read→

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Review

Posted by Connor on March - 28 - 2010

Uncharted 2: One of the most linear, scripted, predetermined games I’ve ever played in my life. Oh, and one of the best. Normally, these qualities hit below the belt, decreasing the overall fun factor of a game. The same cannot be said for Uncharted 2. This game takes linear gameplay, mixes in lots of scripted events that happen around you to make the world come to life, and, with all of this, tells a great story that is very gripping and has... Read→

The release for Lost Planet 2 rescheduled again!

Posted by Kraven on March - 28 - 2010

Capcom’s new game: Lost Planet 2 was due for release before march ends, but the games developer had decided to delay it to may 18th, in order to avoid the game having to compete with a remarkable number of other top gaming title releases, that are expected to come out around the same time. Since Capcom announced the delay, many other game publishers have followed suit and set the release date to the very same date. The first to announce ... Read→
