Details of Killzone 2 DLC – Flash and Thunder

Posted by GameMaster On June - 8 - 2009

killzone-2Sony has just released a new update on the “retro” Killzone 2 map Pack called “Flash and Thunder”. It’s going to be released on the PlayStation network on June 11. The new map pack is going to retail at $5.99 and is said to come with two new maps, Beach Head and Southern Hills.

These new maps trace their roots to the multi-player terrains of the original Killzone game. The maps willshow the planet Vekta in high definition. In Beachhead, the fighting is done at close-range as the Helghast attacks a Vektan stronghold from the shore. Southern Hills will feature a Helghast outpost on a hill. This site with its numerous hiding places is the bolstered version of the original.

Let these two new maps take on your journey! Are you ready to pick up the trail? These “retro” level packs which Guerilla Games has entitled “Flash and Thunder” are in honor of the Beach Head and Southern Hills. Both of these levels were fan favorites in the first KillZone game. They have been upgraded and enhanced to portray a technologically updated environment. The new levels will have lots of twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seats. The game play will keep you moving and alert you as you dodge attacks from stealthy weapons and opponents.

With the Beach Headmap, unrestrained hand-to-hand battle fills up the limited level as the ISA defends their domain from the marauding Helghast who landed on the Vektan beaches. Water filled craters dot the landscape providing meager cover for the combatants. You are sure to enjoy stalking your enemies and taking them down with no mercy. You can also take the higher grounds to take up sniper shots.

For the Southern Hills map, the site for the encounters is the central Helghast base on top of the hill. Small structures encircle the base providing excellent sites for close-quarter fighting. The huge compound makes long-range shoot-outs possible and more exciting as shots criss-cross between the structures. This is ideal for large groups where players can number to as many as 32. The enhanced site provides more structures that serve as hiding places.
