There are a lot of mods (or “custom maps”) available for Starcraft 2, and a lot of them can be quite fun. But most of them have a feeling of amateurism and a lack of polish that fails to allow them to take full advantage of the mechanics they put into play – however innovative those mechanics may be. Smashcraft is a mod that gained popularity the other day, when popular Starcraft 2 caster TotalBiscuit put up a 42-minute video of... Read→

Star Wars Fans Rejoice For Steam’s LucasArts Week

Posted by Connor on September - 13 - 2010

Being a huge Star Wars fan myself, stuff like this makes my ears perk right on up. This week on Steam, every day we’ll see a new LucasArts game go on sale. (Today, Monday, it’s The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition. It’s only $7.50. Sweet.) While I wholeheartedly recommend you pick up The Force Unleashed, as it is one of my favourite Star Wars games of all time (such a great story), make sure your computer can run it first.... Read→

All Minecraft players should get an update next time they launch their client. I love good developers, and Notch is one of the best… This week’s update brings us a much better multiplayer experience, as well as some other stuff. But let’s talk about the multiplayer first. This update fixed many problems that people were having, such as the fact that furnaces wouldn’t work without a workaround (and even then they were buggy),... Read→

Minecraft – What It Is, And Why You Need It

Posted by Connor on August - 30 - 2010

Minecraft has been growing in popularity a lot lately. I decided to check it out just recently, after a month or two of disinterest, and let me tell you… I don’t know why I didn’t try it out earlier. I’m hooked, and I’m loving it. It can be a bit intimidating at first… The mining, the crafting system, the zombies. But when you get the hang of it, Minecraft is an absolute gem that nobody in their right mind should... Read→

I’m personally a big fan of indie games… They may not be as flashy as big-name games, but they have a careful attention to detail that’s hard to beat, and some of them are incredibly cheap and fun. There’s... Read→

Recently Aksys Games revealed the release of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, the sequel to Calamity Trigger, which was the talk of the town last year. In case you missed it, here is your chance  to make up for it, because for the fans of 2D fighting games, BlazBlue is one of those titles that should not be absent on the “Games to buy list” for 2010. With 87 scores on the ratings and an abundance of recommendations from gamers, BlazBlue:... Read→

God of War III – The end of a trilogy

Posted by Kraven on March - 14 - 2010

It took 3 years of developing, and for the fans 3 long years waiting on the end, but now the wait is over, and God of War III has arrived, bringing us the grand finale to Kratos and his relentless quest for revenge. God of War III may not be the last installment of the series that continuously hovered in the top 3 on many gaming fans wish lists, it does bring the final part to this story. There aren’t many changes made to the game play, just a... Read→
